The House of Marnier Lapostolle has officially announced the release of the Grand Marnier Cuvée 1880: a luxurious new expression to commemorate the creation of Grand Marnier’s heritage.

Cuvée 1880 celebrates the conception of Grand Marnier, when, in 1880, Louis-Alexandre Marnier Lapostolle began blending Cognac with oranges which, while common today, were a luxury spoil at the turn of the 20th century. When Louis Alexandre first created this esteemed liqueur, it was a disruption the status quo, combining the complex-yet-smooth flavor of premium Cognacs with the exotic distilled essence of oranges from the Caribbean. Today it is the basis for even more innovation, most notably the Grand Marnier Cuvée 1880.

The Grand Marnier Cuvée 1880 is a distinctive blend of aged, premium XO Cognac made exclusively from Grande Champagne, the most esteemed growing area in the Cognac region. With more Cognac in the nose of its taste profile, it is significantly less sweet than the Cuvée du Centenaire, while still incorporating wild tropical orange notes.

The Cuvée 1880  is as beautiful outside as it is in, with a bottle that pays tribute to what was, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, considered the ‘Golden Age’. Inspiration for the design was taken from a limited edition Grand Marnier bottle from the early 1900s that drew from the Art Nouveau school and Belle Epoque era.  The decorative design on the Cuvée 1880 bottle is hand painted with elegant silver and gold accents for an exceptionally chic and sophisticated aesthetic.

Grand Marnier Cuvée 1880, a perfect any-occasion liqueur from the most storied name in the business, retails for $350 and is available for the fall 2013 season.
