14 Year Old Alquimia Extra Anejo Tequila 750ml  100%Proof

This is Tequila Alquimia's crowning glory!  From our very first production of our own tequila, from our own estate-grown agaves in 2004, we set aside a number of barrels which remained sealed, and they turned 14 years old this year.  We used once-used Jack Daniels barrels to age.  This exquisite spirit is bottled at barrel strength, at 100 Proof.     I did a tasting of 7 different XO Tequilas including El Tesoro, Ray Sol, Tears of Llorona,, Don Vicente, Volans, and Suerte. This was one of the best.

    Rating would be Suerte and Rey Sol, then Alquermia and Tears of Llorona followed by El Tesoro, Don Vicente and last is Volans which was too hot for me.

    If you like to taste the Jack Daniels barrell in your extra anejo $200+ tequila, this is the one for you. If you like your extra anejo to taste like tequila, save half your money and get the Reserva de Don Adolfo.

    Best tequila I’ve tried. After 14 years still has a tequila flavor profile with evolving aromas and flavors from cooked agave, pepper, apricot, caramel, mushrooms, orange, citrus, and vanilla frosting.

    Sampled this aged 14 year tequila and compared it to the alquimia Don Adolfo Reserva extra anejo and I liked the Don Adolfo better. Finish not as smooth as I would expectfor being in wood 14 years. If this was from their first harvest they may have made some changes along the way or aged in different variety oak casks than when they started 14 years ago?
