Process & Production
VIDA de Muertos is inspired by the special batches of mezcal distilled each autumn by the Cruz Nolasco family to celebrate Día de los Muertos. Mature Espadín agaves are roasted in traditional underground earthen pit ovens, milled with an electric molino, naturally fermented, and twice distilled in wood-fired copper stills.
Unlike the standard VIDA Clásico, each batch of VIDA de Muertos is a limited center cut of the distillate, carefully hand-selected by Palenquero Paciano Cruz Nolasco to deliver greater complexity and a richer mouthfeel while preserving the authentic character of San Luis del Río.
Appearance
Crystal clear with brilliant silver highlights and exceptional clarity.
Tasting Notes

What Makes It Special
VIDA de Muertos was created to honor the annual Día de los Muertos celebration and the family traditions of the Cruz Nolasco palenque. Bottled at a higher 45% ABV than VIDA Clásico, this expression showcases a carefully selected center cut of the distillate, resulting in greater texture, complexity, and depth while remaining approachable enough for cocktails.
Although inspired by a seasonal tradition, VIDA de Muertos is now a permanent addition to the Del Maguey portfolio, serving as a bridge between VIDA Clásico and the brand's higher-proof Single Village expressions.
How to Enjoy
Enjoy neat in a copita to appreciate its layered aromas and creamy texture, or use it to elevate cocktails such as a Mezcal Old Fashioned, Naked & Famous, Oaxaca Old Fashioned, or Mezcal Negroni.
Its rich profile pairs beautifully with grilled meats, mole, roasted vegetables, aged cheeses, dark chocolate, citrus desserts, and traditional Oaxacan cuisine.
