Description

Fortaleza Añejo Tequila – 80 Proof (40% ABV) | 750ml

Rich, refined, and deeply expressive, Fortaleza Añejo Tequila represents the pinnacle of traditional tequila craftsmanship. Bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof) in a 750ml bottle, this añejo balances mature agave character with elegant oak influence, offering a complex yet beautifully integrated sipping tequila.

Process & Profile

Fortaleza Añejo begins with fully mature 100% Blue Weber Agave grown in the Tequila Valley. The agave is slowly cooked in stone ovens, crushed using a traditional tahona stone, and naturally fermented with airborne yeasts. After double distillation in copper pot stills, the tequila is aged for approximately 18 months in American oak barrels, allowing it to develop depth and richness while preserving the soul of the agave.

Tasting Notes

The nose opens with aromas of cooked agave, vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak, accented by hints of dried fruit and baking spice. On the palate, Fortaleza Añejo is smooth and layered, delivering flavors of sweet agave, butterscotch, roasted nuts, cinnamon, and light pepper. The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of oak, spice, and soft agave sweetness.

What Makes It Special

Fortaleza Añejo stands apart for its traditional tahona production, extended barrel aging, and additive-free profile. Unlike many modern añejos, it maintains a strong agave-forward character while achieving exceptional balance and complexity through careful aging. This expression is highly regarded among collectors and enthusiasts seeking an authentic, heritage-driven añejo tequila.

How to Enjoy

Best enjoyed neat or with a single large ice cube, allowing its layers of flavor to unfold. Fortaleza Añejo also excels in spirit-forward cocktails such as a Tequila Old Fashioned, where its oak and agave notes shine.

    Amazing!

Its hard to find an anejo with much agave flavor left, but this one has it ! Fortaleza's old school process makes it possible to retain a lot of the original flavor of the agave. This is my "go-to" anejo.
