Description

Lagrimas de Dolores Castilla Joven Mezcal 700ml

Crafted in the highlands of Durango, Mexico, Lágrimas de Dolores Castilla Joven Mezcal is an artisanal expression that showcases the distinctive character of Maguey Castilla (Agave angustifolia). Bottled at 47% ABV in a 700ml format, this small-batch mezcal reflects the traditions, terroir, and craftsmanship that have made Durango one of Mexico's most respected mezcal-producing regions. With its balance of roasted agave, herbal complexity, subtle smoke, and earthy minerality, it offers a refined and authentic mezcal experience.

Process & Profile

Produced in Tepehuanes, Durango, Lágrimas de Dolores Castilla is crafted from mature Maguey Castilla agaves harvested from the rugged mountainous terrain of northern Mexico. The agaves are traditionally roasted in underground earthen ovens fueled by oak wood, allowing the natural sugars to develop rich depth and complexity.

Following roasting, the cooked agaves are crushed, naturally fermented, and distilled using traditional copper stills. The result is a mezcal that preserves the vibrant character of the agave while expressing the unique environmental conditions of Durango's high-altitude landscape.

Bottled as a joven (unaged) mezcal, it showcases the pure essence of the agave without the influence of barrel aging.

Appearance

Crystal clear with brilliant clarity and a silky texture that coats the glass.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fresh cooked agave, green herbs, citrus peel, light smoke, wildflowers, and earthy minerality.

Palate: Smooth and expressive with flavors of roasted agave, lemon zest, herbal botanicals, black pepper, wet stone, and subtle smoky undertones.

Finish: Long and clean with lingering agave sweetness, herbal complexity, mineral notes, and gentle spice.
