Description

Clase Azul Tequila Día de Muertos 2026 Edición Limitada Trascender Añejo Tequila – 80 Proof (40% ABV) | 1L

Marking a new chapter in Clase Azul México’s annual Día de Muertos creations, Clase Azul Tequila Día de Muertos 2026 Edición Limitada Trascender is a limited-edition Añejo tequila curated by Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco. The 2026 release follows the conclusion of the Nuestros Recuerdos series (2021–2025) and begins a new approach in which each future Día de Muertos edition is conceived as a singular creation.

Inside the hand-decorated 1-liter ceramic decanter is a blend of two Añejos aged for more than 30 months: one finished in casks previously used to ferment wine destined for Champagne production and another matured in American whiskey casks. Bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), only 10,000 units were produced.

Process & Aging

Curated by Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco, the tequila for the 2026 Trascender edition is a carefully composed blend of two mature Añejo tequilas.

At the heart of the blend is an Añejo aged for more than 30 months and then finished in select casks previously used to ferment wine destined for Champagne production. It is complemented by a second Añejo aged for over 30 months in American whiskey casks, contributing bold character and toasted notes to the final blend.

The Champagne wine casks are particularly significant. According to Clase Azul, these casks carry the influence of autolysis, a process in which lees continue releasing compounds into the wine after the yeast's life cycle has ended. When used to finish the tequila, the casks contribute warm, buttery aromas reminiscent of toasted walnuts and freshly baked bread.

The finished blend is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).

Appearance

Bright gold with luminous highlights, displaying the rich appearance expected from its extended maturation.

The tequila is housed in an elaborate ceramic decanter whose glaze transitions from deep blue to vibrant magenta, inspired by the mano de león, a traditional flower used to decorate Día de Muertos ofrendas.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Pear compote, ripe apple, and peach open into layers of honey and sourdough bread, underscored by toasted oak.

Palate: Silky, full, and beautifully rounded with ripe pear, agave nectar, cacao nibs, and toasted walnut. A subtle acidity introduces freshness and balance.

Finish: Long and warm with lingering delicate spice.

What Makes It Special

Clase Azul Día de Muertos 2026 Edición Limitada Trascender represents an important transition for Clase Azul's Día de Muertos collection. The previous Nuestros Recuerdos series ran from 2021 through 2025, with each release exploring sensory expressions associated with the tradition. Trascender stands independently and begins a new series of individually conceived Día de Muertos creations.

Its tequila is equally distinctive. Both components of the blend spend more than 30 months aging, but their cask treatments provide contrasting characteristics. Champagne wine casks contribute delicate, buttery, bread-like nuances, while American whiskey casks bring bolder toasted character.

Production is limited to 10,000 one-liter ceramic decanters worldwide, making Trascender a limited annual Clase Azul release.

The 2026 Trascender Decanter

The handcrafted decanter tells the story of transformation central to the 2026 release.

Its glaze moves from deep blue into vibrant magenta, with the magenta inspired by mano de león. Around the base is an intricate floral composition representing the petal-covered paths traditionally believed to guide returning souls during Día de Muertos. Small skulls and delicate droplets within the design symbolize the duality between life and death.

From the floral design rise 24-karat gold brushstrokes, representing the soul's luminous journey toward the Sun. Two marigolds symbolize a soul transforming as it moves from the physical world into the spiritual realm. Each of these elements is hand-painted by Clase Azul artisans using the brand's signature feathered brushstrokes.

How to Enjoy

Clase Azul recommends enjoying Día de Muertos 2026 Trascender neat in a tulip-shaped glass with a wide bowl. This presentation allows the mature fruit, honey, sourdough, toasted oak, cacao, walnut, and delicate spice characteristics to develop in the glass.

Brand Story

Clase Azul México was founded in 1997 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, by Arturo Lomelí, who continues to lead the company as CEO. The brand has expanded internationally while maintaining a strong emphasis on Mexican craftsmanship and artisan-made presentation.

The 2026 Edición Limitada Trascender draws upon Día de Muertos and the idea that life transforms into memory and heritage rather than simply ending. The edition evokes the soul's transcendental journey toward the divine and the Sun's everlasting energy. Through its unusually matured Añejo blend and hand-painted ceramic decanter, Trascender translates those themes of transformation, memory, and permanence into both the tequila and its presentation.
