Gentle peat smoke on the first sip, and a toasted maltiness. After a few sips in, I detect a hint of apple struddel with cinnamon that lingers. In 2019 I visited the distillery and got to tour the distillery and see its mash tanks and processes. Sandra Fraser one of the founding staff members explain the flavor profile of The Hearach, as I walked the distillery and learned about the flavor via the flavor bobits they used to explain it's potential tasting notes, now some years later with my 4 batch four first release bottles those flavor profiles are coming alive. There is an earthiness, there is vanilla too. There are spices that open up giving a nut meg and gloves note. The Hearach single malt embodies Harris very well, it's unique just like the island and the people who live there and crafted this great tasting single malt scotch.
