750MM JOVEN: A very light smoke emerges, disappears and emerges again from behind anise, white pepper and green apple. Consistently smooth with a lingering heat. Distinct notes of espadin agave throughout this young mezcal.
My first Mezcal so nothing to compare it to, hence only 4 stars, but it's perfect for craft cocktails.
Of the 10 mezcals I've tried this probably ranks right around the middle of the pack for me in terms of both taste and value. Its light and smooth tasting although there is a little bit of an aftertaste in the finish which I don't especially care for. Personally, I think this Mezcal tastes best when served chilled. It is very nice that way. However, I probably wouldn't purchase another bottle considering at this price point I can pick up a bottle of Tosba Espadin. And for $7-8 cheaper I can get a bottle of Alipus which is both a better value and slightly more to my liking taste wise.
