Process & Production

Tequila Ocho Extra Añejo "La Estancia" begins with fully mature Blue Weber agaves harvested exclusively from the La Estancia estate, one of the carefully selected ranchos that define Tequila Ocho's vintage philosophy. Every vintage reflects the unique soil, elevation, climate, and growing conditions of a single field, much like the concept of terroir in fine wine.

The agaves are slowly cooked in traditional brick ovens, naturally fermented, and double distilled before being rested for more than three years in carefully selected American oak whiskey barrels. Throughout the aging process, the tequila develops remarkable depth while maintaining the vibrant agave character that distinguishes Tequila Ocho from heavily oak-driven extra añejos.

Produced under the guidance of the Camarena family, Tequila Ocho remains committed to traditional production methods and contains no additives, allowing both the agave and the estate's unique terroir to shine through every bottle.

Appearance

Deep golden amber with brilliant copper highlights and exceptional clarity, displaying rich viscosity that slowly coats the glass.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich aromas of cooked agave, vanilla bean, caramel, toasted oak, dried figs, orange peel, baking spices, dark chocolate, and roasted nuts.

Palate: Luxuriously smooth with layers of roasted agave, butterscotch, honey, caramel, cinnamon, dried apricot, dark cocoa, sweet oak, and subtle black pepper, beautifully balanced by bright mineral-driven agave notes.

Finish: Exceptionally long and elegant with lingering notes of vanilla, oak, baking spice, dried fruit, caramel, and sweet cooked agave.

What Makes It Special

Tequila Ocho pioneered the concept of vintage-dated, single-estate tequila, allowing each release to showcase the distinctive characteristics of a specific agave field. The La Estancia 2022 Extra Añejo continues this philosophy, offering a rare expression that highlights both extended barrel maturation and the natural terroir of one exceptional rancho.

Unlike many extra añejos that rely heavily on oak influence, Tequila Ocho carefully balances barrel aging with vibrant agave character, creating a whiskey-like complexity while remaining unmistakably tequila. Its additive-free production and limited vintage availability have made it one of the most sought-after extra añejos among collectors and agave enthusiasts.

How to Enjoy

Enjoy neat in a Glencairn or tequila tasting glass to fully appreciate its remarkable complexity. Allow the tequila to rest in the glass for several minutes before sipping to reveal evolving layers of aroma and flavor.

Its refined profile pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, crème brûlée, roasted pecans, aged Gouda, fine cigars, or as a contemplative after-dinner pour.
